Jakarta, Indonesia, April 29th till May 13th, 2012

Because of very a generous sponsorship of the "Girls helping Girls Fund" I have been able to take up a longstanding invitation to work with Rachel House, a paediatric Community Palliative Care team  in Jakarta, Indonesia. this is a service focussing on alliviating the suffering of the poorest children here in Jakarta. This service has been founded and continues to be supported by Lynna Chandra, co-director of Absolute Impact  Partners, based in Singapore. These two weeks have been an eye-opener. The nurses visit the families on their motorbikes, weaving through congested very heavy traffic. I have had the privilege to accompany them for several days. I found this is a great way to get to know each other and take the time to establish relationship. It also gave me a clearer idea of the tremendous issues they are dealing with on a daily basis. Issues ranging from congested traffic jams, pollution and heat as well as being faced with the effects of poverty on the children and their families every day. They are dedicated to healing and are creative in finding resources to alleviate suffering.

The last 2 days of my visit we have worked together in a 2 day workshop exploring self- awareness, self care and working with death and dying.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole team for their trust and willingness to share. Thank you to Lynna for trusting me to work with the team. My next visit to continue working together with the Rachel House Team is in August 2012.

A big thank you to my very generous supportive funders from "Girls helping Girls" fund.
